
Alison Kinney
Director of Development and Communications
Alison Kinney (She/Her) joined Radio Bilingüe in 2022 and serves as Director of Development and Communications. She holds an MA in American Studies-Folklore from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she also studied nonprofit management through the UNC School of Social Work. Her graduate thesis developed an ESL literacy curriculum for high school–aged refugee students, using cultural storytelling as a foundation for language learning. She earned her BA in Anthropology and Spanish from the University of Oregon and studied for a year at the Universidad Austral in Valdivia, Chile. After finishing her education and returning to California, Alison worked in development as part of the founding team of a community arts nonprofit that created studio space, community programming, and economic opportunities for local artists. She also taught English as a Second Language at the community college level while working in freelance communications and development consulting. Now based in Arcata, California, she is a parent, a writer of fiction and poetry, and can often be found weeding her garden and walking wooded paths. Contact: akinney@radiobilingue.org
