PROGRAM #10854 12:00 PM PT

Six Years Since the El Paso Massacre.

August 3rd marked six years since the El Paso massacre, an attack driven by anti-Latino hate that left over 20 people dead and profoundly scarred a community. Amid debates on gun laws and racial justice, the community continues to demand answers and a path to healing with dignity. How has El Paso changed since then? How did this tragedy impact other Latino communities? What has the trial revealed about the motives and triggers? How does white supremacist rhetoric continue to fuel violence? Is it possible to feel safe?

Guests: TBA.

Democracy on Alert? At Trump’s request, Texas Republicans have just unveiled a new statewide political map, one that would increase conservative seats in the U.S. Congress. Civil rights activists denounce this as yet another voter suppression tactic, using manipulated redistricting to nullify elections. Political analysts examine the proposed map and discuss the prospects for its approval. They also assess the potential impact on the state’s Latino electorate and how other states are watching closely, either to challenge or replicate what happens in Texas.

Extreme Weather, Mental Health at Risk. Latino communities face greater risks than other populations when it comes to climate change. As a result, concern about its devastating effects—and the government’s questionable response—is growing daily. National mental health leaders have assessed the seriousness of these concerns and released a report. How is the climate crisis affecting mental health? And how can we prepare without neglecting emotional well-being?
