Colorado urgently needs more teachers and is trying to attract them with financial incentives. However, an undocumented educator with a teaching license has been deemed ineligible for the role because of her immigration status. This case highlights the barriers that prevent qualified professionals from filling vacancies. Now, civil rights groups are preparing a lawsuit demanding that the state pass new legislation that would allow it to take advantage of immigrant talent. Jesús Sánchez Melean reports from Denver.
