President Reveals Immigration Reform Plan; Senators Launch Their Own Reform Plan; Father's Deportation Stopped in Arizona

PRESIDENT REVEALS IMMIGRATION REFORM PLAN – President Obama announced the principles for immigration reform favored by the White House. The event in Las Vegas, Nevada was attended by the most recognized immigrant rights groups from Washington and Los Angeles, the top Latino union leaders in the country, and top level Latino officials. The majority saluted the determination of the White House and called for intensified lobbying and mass mobilizations. Some social leaders expressed concern that if some proposals are not modified, many families will remain divided. Our correspondent Rubén Tapia was at the event and has this story.

SENATORS LAUNCH THEIR OWN REFORM PLAN – One day before President Obama’s announcement beginning the debate on immigration reform, a group of eight Democrat and Republican senators came out with their own blueprint for immigration reform. José López Zamorano prepared this report about the Group of 8’s plan, and the reactions to it.

FATHER’S DEPORTATION STOPPED IN ARIZONA – As the federal government renews the debate around bipartisan immigration reform with a path to citizenship, hundreds of families around the country face separation from a loved one because of deportation. Thanks to political pressure by immigrant rights groups in Arizona, the family of one Guatemalan father can tell a different story. Valeria Fernández reports from Phoenix.
