Wal-Mart Workers Organize Walkout; Native American and Japanese Traditions Interwoven to Tell Creation Myths.

WAL-MART WORKERS ORGANIZE WALKOUT 鈥 In an unprecedented action, workers at the commercial giant Wal-Mart organize a strike in several cities during so-called 鈥淏lack Friday,鈥 the biggest sales day of the year. The non-union workers are protesting retaliations and firings of workers who have demanded better working conditions at this multinational company, considered the largest private employer in the country. With more details from Los Angeles, Rub茅n Tapia.

NATIVE AMERICAN AND JAPANESE TRADITIONS INTERWOVEN TO TELL CREATION MYTHS  - https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/images/cleardot.gifA play created by a group in San Francisco celebrates unity between cultures that may have many similarities, even if they seem to be very different. Mystical Abyss brings together elements of ancient Japanese theater with Native American music and dance to tell two creation myths: one from Japan and one from the Iroquois tribe of the Northeastern U.S. Both legends tell stories of death and rebirth, darkness and creation. Our reporter Farida Jhabvala Romero went to the premiere of the play in San Francisco, California, and she has this story. This story is part of our Ra铆ces Series: Stories About Grassroots Artists.
