SURGE IN REGISTERED LATINO VOTERS IN ARIZONA –A movement to remove Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio continues to grow, registering more than 34,000 Latino voters in Arizona. Arpaio is known for his persecution of undocumented immigrants. This is not the only race that could mark a before and after for Latinos in Arizona. FLORIDA’S EDUCATION STANDARDS CAUSE CONTROVERSY – Florida’s board of education recently established academic goals differentiated by race. The expectations for Asian and White students were higher than those for Latinos and African-Americans.
