Republicans seek Latino Vote after Convention; Choir Fills the Spirit for Diverse Colors and Creeds

REPUBLICANS SEEK LATINO VOTE AFTER CONVENTION – At their convention in Tampa, Florida this week, Republicans officially nominated former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney as their presidential candidate and Congressman Paul Ryan as vicepresidential candidate. While notable Republican Latinos spoke at the podium, launching a last-minute attempt to get the Latino vote, figures considered strictly anti-immigrant made appearances on committees and at events surrounding the convention. José López Zamorano reports from the Republican National Convention in Tampa.

CHOIR FILLS THE SPIRIT FOR DIVERSE COLORS AND CREEDS - The members of the Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir swear the music they sing is a salve for the spirit. The singers are of diverse colors, ages, and religions, but in gospel songs, they have found family unity. And some have even found love in the choir! Our reporter Farida Jhabvala Romero attended a presentation of the choir at a church in Oakland, California, and has this story. This feature story is part of our Raíces Series: Stories About Grassroots Artists.
