President Obama Defends Immigration Policy at Miami Town Hall – The Department of Justice appealed the decision of a judge to block President Obama’s executive actions, which would have given temporary permission to stay in the country to millions of undocumented mothers, fathers, and young people. This and other White House actions were at the center of a town hall meeting, televised from Miami, where President Obama tried to calm the fears of those potentially affected by the decision, and he gave warnings to officials that don’t follow his directions to protect immigrant families. Survivor of Zapatismo in Mexico Dies – At 98 years old, Don Félix Serdán Nájera, honorary major of the Zapatista Army of National Liberation and combatant in the struggle of agrarian leader of the 1950′s, has died. Serdán dedicated his life to social struggles. He is remembered as a survivor of the agrarian struggles that followed the Mexican Revolution. From Morelos, Mexico, Raúl Silva has this story.

Radio Bilingüe Celebrates 20 Years of Línea Abierta – Radio Bilingüe broadcast the first edition of its talkshow Línea Abierta 20 years ago in a live forum from Albuquerque, about attempts to eliminate public assistance. Since then, Línea Abierta has continued to be the first and only news and public affairs program in Spanish which is distributed nationally through the public radio network of the United States. Rubén Tapia prepared some of the voices heard in the first years of Línea Abierta.
