Based on the memoir book “Reaching for the Stars,” the new movie “A Million Miles Away” tells the inspiring story of José Hernández, a farmworker who rose from the fields of California to become an astronaut. Raised in a family of migrant workers, Hernández studied to be an engineer and achieved his dream to fly into space when he was selected for the crew of the International Space Station. Hernandez explains what he learned in the process. This program was first aired the week before. This archival program was originally aired on October 23, 2023.
