Wednesday_673x324WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 15
PROGRAM # 8200 12:00 PM PST.

Firestorms: One Month Later.

One month after the devastating North Bay fires, authorities are in the middle of the “largest wildfire clean up in California history.” Local reporters and officials provide a report on the risks posed by toxic ashes that can contaminate the water during the winter rains, the housing crisis and the options for those who became displaced by the wildfires, the efforts to reassure those reluctant to seek emergency aid, and the various fundraising efforts to bring relief for fire survivors.

Guests: Ricardo Ibarra, Editor, La Prensa Sonoma/Press Democrat, Santa Rosa, CA; Alegría de la Cruz, Chief Deputy County Counsel, County of Sonoma, Sonoma, CA

Puerto Rico Still in the Dark. Seven weeks after Hurricane Maria ravaged Puerto Rico, many survivors in the island are still struggling to get basic services, like shelter. The humanitarian crisis continues, and immigrants are among the hardest hit. Also, the governor and the head of the power system of the island faced a hearing in Congress, where the governor requested almost 95 billion in funds for reconstruction, and was the target of severe questioning about the controversial deal with Whitefish Energy Holdings, a company accused of gouging the tax payer and with connections to the White House.

Guests: (Audio Cuts) Gov. Pedro Roselló, Puerto Rico; Rep. Nydia Velazquez, D-New York; Rep. Luis Gutiérrez, D-Chicago; Rep. José Serrano, D-New York; Rep. Jennifer González Colón, Puerto Rico, Washington, DC.
