Mexico Edition.

After the visit this week by US climate envoy John Kerry, to discuss ways to move faster in the efforts to tackle global warming and create clean energy, Mexican President López Obrador announced today ten steps to deal with the climate crisis. An expert on energy and the economy discusses the environmental commitments reached in these talks, the expected outcomes, the impact of climate change on vulnerable Mexican communities, and the challenges ahead to switching to renewable energy. On another topic, Mexican immigration agents can’t conduct migrant checks on buses and highways after Mexico’s Supreme Court ruled that such operations are racist, discriminatory, and unconstitutional. The ruling was in favor of three Indigenous Mexicans who were detained and abused by Mexican officials. A legal and political analyst comments on the potential impact of the landmark decision.
