Three years after the oil reform of president Peña Nieto, which allows foreign companies to exploit the Mexican crude, the government has given them almost a fifth of the oil fieds with proven reserves, and the crude oil extracted from the Gulf of México will supply the needs of US and Chinese industries who won the tenders. Meanwhile, state-owned company Pemex is at risk of losing 65 of the fields with highest potential allocated to it, since it hasn’t met the production targets that were established, informed experts in the theme. They also explained that the rise in the price of gasoline is in fact a tax increase, since the government sells it to Mexicans at more than twice the import price.
