Despite being a US-born citizen, Alfredo Gutierrez father was deported from Arizona to Mexico during the anti-immigrant hysteria of the Great Depression. In his book To Sin Against Hope, the veteran social and political leader tells that story and through personal memories, he examines the history of the war on Mexicans.
