Thursday_673x324THURSDAY, OCTOBER 19
PROGRAM # 8181 12:00 PM PT

Champion of Immigrant Rights.

This is a conversation with Cristina Jiménez, co-founder of United We Dream, who has been granted a MacArthur Fellowship award, the so-called “genius” grant. Cristina, a young immigrant from Ecuador, is a leading advocate of the movement of immigrant youth and founder of a nationwide network of individuals and organizations created to support immigrant youth and families. She talks about her award, her first steps in social justice activism, the generational change within the Dreamer movement and the current debate on a clean Dream Act.

Guest: Cristina Jiménez, Executive Director and Co-Founder, United We Dream, Winner of MacArthur Fellowship Prize, Washington, DC.

Faith Leaders and Trump. While most white conservative evangelical leaders continue sticking with President Trump, a number of pastors and evangelical leaders are condemning his policies and actions and are urging the president and Congress to find relief for the now-unprotected Dreamers. An evangelical leader talks about the inflammatory rhetoric against Mexicans and Blacks in Washington, the public opinion within the Evangelical community, the pressure from pastors on members of Trump’s Evangelical advisory board, and Trump’s decision to end DACA.

Guest: Rev. Dr. Rogelio Ovalle, Executive Pastor, The House Church, Executive Director, Proezas Ministries, Visalia, CA.
