Trump Hits Mexico with Tariffs on Imports.

President Trump announced that, beginning June 10th, the US will impose a 5% tariff on all Mexican imports until Mexico cracks down on migrants trying to cross Mexico towards the United States. Mexico sent a high level delegation to Washington to negotiate with the White House. What’s the impact of these tariff threats on the economy of both countries, and on migration? What are other consequences? What are the politics behind this move?

Guest: Fernando Guerra, Professor, Political Science and Chicana/o Latina/o Studies Director Thomas and Dorothy Leavey Center for the Study of Los Angeles, Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles, CA

Sponsors Leave Fresno Grizzlies Over Attack to Ocasio-Cortez. Major companies ended their sponsorship deals with minor league baseball team Fresno Grizzlies after a video featuring New York congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez played at the stadium portrayed her as an “enemy of freedom” and “potential adversary.” While the baseball company apologized, Ocasio-Cortez referred to a “flood of death threats” inspired by such hate messages. A hit job for political gain or an accident? How to remedy the damage?

Guest: Eliseo Gamiño, School Administrator, Community Activist, Fresno, CA.
