Remembering Chris Strachwitz.

Musicologist Chris Strachwitz, founder of Arhoolie Records, has died at 91. Strachwitz helped record, preserve and promote the work of roots musicians in folk genres such as Blues, Cajun, Creole, Zydeco, Tex-Mex, Norteño and mariachi. His Frontera Collection is considered the world’s largest private archive of Mexican and Mexican American music. His collections were acquired by Smithsonian Folkways, the record label of the Smithsonian Institution. Music masters and producers and a singer and accordionist who is a legend in Tejano Conjunto music, who partnered with Strachwitz, recollect significant moments and discuss the legacy of Strachwitz.
