Meklit.

Wednesday_673x324WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 3
PROGRAM # 7849 12:00 PM PT

Meklit.

This is a conversation with Meklit Hadero, an Ethiopia-born singer and songwriter who celebrates her three “sonic homelands”: Addis Ababa, Brooklyn, and San Francisco. She combines jazz, folk and East African rhythms in her performances, adding a recent mix with a Mexican-American group. This bilingual conversation and a capella renditions were recorded before a live audience at the Smithsonian Folklife Festival’s Sounds of California program at the National Mall last month.

Guest: Meklit Hadero, Singer and Songwriter, Washington, DC.
