Ignacio López Tarso: The Bracero.

The Mexican legend Ignacio López Tarso, who starred in theater, film and television for seven decades, died recently at the age of 98. In this interview, his son Juan Ignacio Aranda, also an actor, shares memories of facets of his dad’s career. Aranda talks about how before starting his career as an actor, López Tarso worked as a Bracero, a farm laborer in California’s San Joaquin Valley, in the 1940s. It was perhaps an accident he had in the fields that led him to choose the career that would make him a star in the years to come.

Guests: Juan Ignacio Aranda, Actor, Son of Ignacio López Tarso, Mexico City; Nancy Moya, Reporter, Central Valley Journalism Collaborative, Merced, CA.
