Holiday Edition: Young Maestros.

monday-673x324

Inspired by El Sistema, a Venezuela program that has changed the lives of thousands of poor kids in more than 35 years, a classical orchestra in a California farming town is touching children’s lives trough the power of music. Children from farmworking families in Salinas spend hours learning to play classical musical instruments and their new-found virtuosism has helped them stay in school and out of trouble. This program is part of the art series Raíces.

Guests: Camilo Ortiz, Director, Pre-orchestra YOSAL; Sharon Ortega, Student; Sonia Zabala, Mother; Sebastián Juárez, Student; Sonia Silva, Mother; Young Orchestra Salinas, Salinas, CA
