Republican incumbent David Valadao and Democratic challenger TJ Cox have been invited to participate and dialogue with residents of this majority Latino district. This forum, an expanded edition of Radio Bilingüe’s series “Hacia el Voto 2018,” is convened in partnership with KQED Public Radio.

Immigration Edition. The Trump administration has issued a new proposed “public charge” rule that would deny green cards to anyone who has used public benefits. Advocates warn this policy could jeopardize access to healthcare and health for immigrants and US citizens. And the US Supreme Court is discussing a case about indefinite detention for immigrants whose crime sentence has been completed. Analysts comment on these and other topics.

Elections Roundup. In the Texas Senate race, Republican incumbent Ted Cruz and Democratic challenger are scheduled to debate the night before in San Antonio on domestic and foreign policy issues. This segment includes highlights of the televised debate. It also brings news on the race between two members of Congress who are running for governor in New Mexico: Democrat Michelle Lujan Grisham and Republican Steve Pearce, who are vying to replace Republican Governor Susana Martínez. This roundup also includes news on key races in California in the battle for the US Congress.
