Salvadoran Immigrant Makes History as El Salvador’s Vice Presidential Candidate

El Salvador’s leftist FMLN party has nominated Werner Marroquín for vice president in the upcoming elections in February. This is the first time someone from the Salvadoran diaspora, located mostly in the United States and sustaining their home country’s economy with their remittances, is being considered for this post. We spoke with Marroquín during his first campaign event in Los Angeles. Jorge Ramirez brings us a summary of the conversation.
