Mexico’s Government Responds To Teacher Protest with Brutal Violence

For more than a month, thousands of teachers in the state of Oaxaca, Mexico have been striking to protest the education reform being pushed through by the federal government. The reform would make it easier to fire teachers and could abolish the system of normal schools to prepare them. This week, a violent police operation against the teachers who are against the reform left eleven dead and more than a hundred wounded. The police represssion has provoked international condemnation and more protests in other states in Mexico. Vladimir Flores has more from Oaxaca.
