When he was a young student, Jorge Sicuir, a young Guatemalan man, began donating blood and encouraged his younger brother to follow in his footsteps. Eventually, their parents became worried about their health because of the extent of their generosity in donating blood and platelets and begged them for moderation. In 2015, Jorge suffered a life-threatening accident. Upon learning of it, dozens of people rushed to donate blood. This story is particularly relevant in light of the country’s current blood supply crisis.
