20 Years After Peace Accords, Mayan Survivors Seek to Heal Wounds

This week marks 20 years since the signing of the peace accords that ended a long civil war in Guatemala. The armed conflict between rebel groups and the government of Guatemala left around 200,000 people dead. The vast majority of victims were indigenous Mayans. The violence was especially disastrous for Mayan women, who lost loved ones, suffered torture and sexual abuse, and had to find new ways to survive. On the anniversary of the peace accords, Maria Martin takes us to one Mayan community where the victims are trying to heal the wounds left by the armed conflict.
