Primary Elections in California. California voters will go to the polls on Tuesday to cast ballots in the primary elections, which, for the second time, will be open: the two candidates who receive the highest votes will continue to the November election regardless of political affiliation. Two Latino candidates are at the top of the voting ballot. State senator Alex Padilla looks to become the next Secretary of State, while former Speaker of the Assembly, John Perez seeks the post of controller. Their biggest challenge is to make sure voters go to the polls in mid-term elections, which usually report a lower turnout. Araceli Martínez, in Los Angeles has the story.

Pre-Hispanic Ballgame: Pelota Mixteca. The ballgame known as Pelota Mixteca, has been played for more than a millenium and continues to thrive among indigenous communities in the southern Mexican state of Oaxaca. As Oaxacans started to migrate north of the border, loyal fans brought with them the heavy gloves and vulcanized game balls typical of this ancestral sport. For about 18-years now, an annual Pelota Mixteca tournament is held in the San Joaquin Valley in California, where players from all over the state, including an official team from Oaxaca, come to compete. This year a youth competition was introduce at the contest in Fresno. Juan Santiago, attended the tournament and files the story.
