Radio Bilingüe presents a recorded conversation with Mexican peace advocate and poet Javier Sicilia, who discuss the emerging peace movement in Mexico and its impact on U.S.-Mexico relations, and CNN commentator Ruben Navarrete Jr. Radio Bilingüe’s news director Samuel Orozco facilitated the dialogue.

Javier Sicilia is the renowned Mexican poet whose son was brutally murdered and founded the Movement for Peace with Justice and Dignity in Mexico. During the summer, he will lead a caravan from San Diego to Washington, DC, to raise awareness about the binational effects of the war on drugs.

Javier Navarrete Jr, a San Diego-based commentator for CNN and a columnist for The Washington Post Writers Group, brings a different perspective, hailing the US-supported war on cartels in Mexico.

The two-hour program will go on the air this Wednesday, June 13th, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM PDT through Radio Bilingüe’s public radio network and Radio Bilingüe Internet online stream: www.radiobilingue.org

The original Conversations took place in front of a live audience on May 4th at the auditorium of San Jose State University. The public forum was sponsored by Global Exchange and Mexican Heritage Corporation’s VivaFest!

In addition to the conversations, this program includes the recording of a live concert by border folk troubadours Ronstadt Generations.
